  • Welcome to my blog!

    "The work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life." -Jessica Hische

    And therefore my dishes sit in the sink, my mail is piled sky high, and I need a shower because I am either taking pictures, editing pictures, reading about pictures, or looking at pictures on the computer. After nine years of working as an RN in labor and deliver (6 of them on the night shift) I realized what I should be doing is what I WANTED to do- and that is, take pictures. When you hire me to take your child's or family's pictures, my unbridled passion for capturing a beautiful moment in time will be translated into timeless, classic portraits that you will have for generations to come. And I promise I will take a shower!

    Thanks for stopping by! Please come back often to see my latest work.

Cooper and McLure Interiors {Birmingham Headshot Photographer}

Wow, am I lucky to have met Amanda Cooper of Cooper McLure Interiors. We first met when she gave a presentation to my MOMS group about decorating on a budget. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. She is beautiful, inside and out, and her interior design is amazing. In fact, Cooper  and McLure Interiors was awarded “Best of Remodeling” 2012 by Houzz, the leading online platform for residential remodeling and design. Known as “the new face of Southern interior design”, she and I are the perfect match as she specializes in mixing old and new to create timeless design, just as I like to do when taking pictures of families. I look forward to taking pictures of her interiors, as well as of her clients and their families. I just love using family portraits as art. Also, (exciting news!!) Amanda has agreed to serve as a consult for my clients regarding where to place their portraits in their home. Where else can you get beautiful, classic portraits of your family along with an award winning interior designer to help with placement in your home than Amanda Knerr Photography?

The Craft Family

I love it when I’m on a session and just “know” that the pictures are going to be gorgeous. I can feel my excitement building as I peer through the viewfinder and see the combination of the beauty of these girls (inherited from their Colombian mother), the yumminess of the light, and the love this family has for each other. They probably get tired of me saying, “oh my gosh, gorgeous” after every shot. : ) Thanks for spending the evening with me, Craft family!

Noah

I couldn’t wait to share this amazing session with all of you! This is Noah Crowe- he is one week older than my youngest daughter (4 years old) and an amazing kid. He has battled brain cancer since he was 21 months old. He had his third major brain surgery in January. The foundation I am now deeply involved with, Hope for Autumn Foundation, is honoring him at this year’s 2012 Hope for Autumn Crawfish Boil, to be held on April 28th. Visit the website to buy tickets or if you can’t come, just to donate! Back to Noah: We had so much fun playing on the train! I had to be the conductor and yell, “All aboard!”

We threw rocks in the water….
And he got a lollipop for being such a good boy!
Why are boys always blessed with the eyelashes? Here we are looking at bugs.
Wanting to explore and not very happy that we couldn’t keep up with him!
We had a wonderful time and I’m still so proud he told me, “You’re my friend.”

Baby Brother {Birmingham Newborn Photographer}

Organic. Pure. Clean. Fresh. All of those words can be used to describe a newborn. And all of those words can be used to describe this session. I am thrilled with the results. Can’t you imagine looking at these in 50 years and thanking yourself for capturing this moment in time that is so fleeting and so precious? These images capture details and emotion. We can’t go back to when our babies were just 5 days old. And most likely, at the time, we were so bleary with fatigue that we don’t remember much about those days in our minds, either. Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph your brand new family and give you something to look at and remember.
